Apple Pandowdy
Ingredients:
6 tart apples
1 c. sugar
2 Tbs. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbs. shortening
3/8 c. milk

Directions:
Slice apples into buttered casserole. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and salt and dot with butter. Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt. Add milk and mix to soft dough. Roll 1/2" thick and cover apples. Bake at 375 for about 35 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown. Invert on serving dish so apples are on top and serve with heavy cream, pudding sauce or ice cream.
