Hush Puppies
Ingredients:
1 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 to 1/2 c. chopped onion
1 egg, beaten
2/3 c. milk
Vegetable oil

Directions:
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Add egg and milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Let batter stand 5 minutes. Carefully drop batter by rounded Tbs. into deep hot oil (375). Fry, turning once, 3 to 5 minutes or until hush puppies are golden brown. Drain well on paper towels. Makes about 1 1/2 dozen.
