Saucy Manicotti

Ingredients:

3/4 lb. ground chuck
3/4 lb. hot bulk pork sausage
1 lg. onion, chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
! (14 1/2 oz.) can tomatoes, undrained and chopped
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1 1/2 tsp. dried whole oregano
1 1/2 tsp. dried whole basil
1 tsp. sugar
Salt and pepper to taste
1 (8 oz.) pkg. manicotti noodles
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/2 (8 oz.) carton cream cheese with chives and onions
4 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
16 oz. ricotta cheese
3/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
4 cloves garlic, crushed
3/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. dried whole oregano

Directions:

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large Dutch oven. Cook over medium heat until meat is browned, stirring to crumble; drain well. Add tomato sauce and next 6 ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Cook manicotti shells according to pkg. directions; drain and let cool to touch. Combine cream cheeses in a large bowl; beat at med. speed until smooth. Add mozzarella cheese and remaining ingredients; stir well. stuff mixture evenly into cooked shells. Spoon half of sauce mixture evenly inti 2 greased 2 1/2 qt shallow casseroles. Arrange stuffed shells over sauce. Spoon remaining sauce over shells. Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
