Bavarian Apple Pie
Ingredients:
CRUST:
1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
Filling:
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. thinly sliced apples
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbs. butter
1/2 c. walnuts
CRUST:
1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
Filling:
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. thinly sliced apples
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 Tbs. butter
1/2 c. walnuts
Directions:
Beat the first three ingredients well with mixer. Add 1 c. flour and blend mix to form a soft dough. Push dough into the bottom and up the sides of a 9" pie pan.
To make the filling: Beat cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth and pour over the crust spreading evenly. Then combine 4 c. thinly sliced apples, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and 2/3 c. sugar. Layer this mix evenly over cream cheese mix. Dot with 1 tbs. butter. Sprinkle with 1/2 c. chopped walnuts. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 for 30 minutes or until apples are done. If apples start to get too brown, cover with foil.
