Buttery Black Walnut Brittle
Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. corn syrup
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. butter (no substitutes)
1 to 1 1/2 c. black walnuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar

1 to 1 1/2 c. black walnuts
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions:
In a saucepan, cook sugar, corn syrup and water until sugar disolves and mixture comes to a boil. Add butter; cook until mixture reaches 280 degrees on a candy thermometer. Stir in walnuts; cook 300 degrees (hard rock stage). Remove from heat and stir in soda. Spread immediately into greased 15x10" baking pan. When cool, break into pieces. Yield 1 1/4 pounds.
