Old-fashioned Black Walnut Taffy
Ingredients:
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. black walnut pieces
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. molasses
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. black walnut pieces
Directions:
Mix brown sugar, molasses and milk and cook until ball stage, 260 to 275 degrees. Remove from heat; add the soda at that time. It will foam up. Add the walnuts or any other nuts you prefer. Pour onto square aluminum pan or pie pan, which should be sprayed with Pam. Cool several hours. Take out in one big lump and crack into pieces.
