Ingredients:
2 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm
2 c. lukewarm water
1 Tbs. salt
5 Tbs. sugar
5 Tbs. butter,melted and slightly cooled
2 cakes compressed yeast
12 to 12 1/2 c. flour
2 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm

12 to 12 1/2 c. flour
Directions:
Put lukewarm liquids into mixing bowl. Crumble yeast into liquids and stir until dissolved. Measure salt and sugar and stir into dissolved yeast solution. Let stand 5 minutes. Add butter and stir well. Sift and measure flour. Add 6 c. of the flour and beat until smooth. Add most of the remaining flour. Stir and mix thoroughly. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead lightly, but thoroughly for 10 mimutes. Round up dough and place in a large greased bowl and turn once to bring greased side up. Cover with a cloth and set in a warm place until double in size. Knead down and let rise until almost double in size. Cut dough into 4 equal portions. Shape into loaves and place in well greased bread pans. Cover lightly and set in warm place. Allow to rise until sides of dough have reached top of pan and corners are filled. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake 25 to 30 minutes or until bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Turn out of pans ans allow to cool before storing. Makes 4 loaves.
