Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt
2/3 c shortening
1/2 c. cold water
6 small apples. pelled and cored
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. water
2 Tbs. butter

Directions:
Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Add water 1 Tbs, at a time until flour is moistened. Roll dough into 18x12 rectangle on floured surface. Cut into six 6" squaresPlace an apple in the center of each square. Combine 3/4 c. sugar with cinnamon. Spoon 2 Tbs.in center of each apple top with 1 tsp. of butter. Moisten edges of pastry, bring corners to center and seal. Place in 13x9" pan. Combine remaining cinnamon sugar with 1/4 c. sugar and water. Heat to dissolve sugar. pour around apples. Bake at 375 for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with milk or ice cream.
