Ingredients:
3 Tbs. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
3 Tbs. shortening

Directions:
Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in milk. Drop by spoonfuls onto hot meat or vegetables in boiling stew (do not drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered 10 minutes, Cover and cook about 10 minutes longer. Makes about 8 to 10 dumplings. CHEESE DUMPLINGS: Add 1/4 c. shredded sharp cheese to the dry ingredients. PARSLEY DUMPLINGS: Add 3 Tbs. snipped parsley or chives to the dry ingredients.
