Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients:
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 c. flour

1/2 c. buttermilk
Directions:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a med. bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Add buttermilk, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 4 or 5 times. Roll dough to 1/2" thickness; cut with a 2 1/2" biscuit cutter. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 for 13 to 14 minutes or until biscuits are lightly browned. Yield: 1/2 doz.
