Dixie Hamburgers
Ingredients:
3 medium-size onions, peeled and sliced
1 lg. green pepper, seeded and sliced
3 Tbs. salad oil
1 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 can tomato sauce with mushrooms
1/8 tsp. thyme

Directions:
Saute onions and green pepper in salad oil just until soft; remove. Mix ground beef lightly with 1/2 tsp. of the salt and pepper; shape into 4 patties about 1" thick. Pan-fry over medium heat just until brown on both sides; return onions and green pepper to pan. Pour tomato sauce over; stir in thyme and remaining 1 tsp. salt; cover. Simmer, basting several times, 15 minutes.
Makes 4 Servings
