Molasses Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar 1 egg
1/4 c. molasses
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Cream shortening; gradually add 1 c. sugar, beating at medium speed until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well. Combine flour soda, salt, and spices; mix well. Add about 1/4 of dry ingredients at a time to creamed mixture, mixing till smooth after each addition. Chill dough at least 1 hour. Shape dough into 1" balls, and roll in sugar, Place 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes. (Tops will crack.) Cool on wire racks. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
