Oven Swiss Steak
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs. beef round steak, cut 3/4" thick
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbs. shortening
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1/2 c. finely chopped celery
1/2 c. finely chopped carrot
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 lbs. beef round steak, cut 3/4" thick
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbs. shortening
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
1/2 c. finely chopped celery
1/2 c. finely chopped carrot
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
Cut meat into 6 serving-size portions.Combine flour and salt; pound 2 Tbs. of the mixture into meat. Brown meat on both sides in hot shortening. Transfer meat to a 12x7 1/2x 2" baking dish. Add remaining ingredients and bake at 350 until meat is tender, basting, if necessary.
Makes 6 Servings
