Chili Con Carne
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 1/2 c. tomato juice
1 lg. bay leaf
1 to 2 Tbs. chili powder
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp. paprika
1 can (15 1/2 oz.) kidney beans
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
3 1/2 c. tomato juice
1 lg. bay leaf
1 to 2 Tbs. chili powder
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp. paprika
1 can (15 1/2 oz.) kidney beans
Directions:
Brown ground beef in heavy skilet or pan (no fat added). Add onion and green pepper; cook until almost tender. Add tomato juice and seasonings. Cover. Simmer gently 2 hours, adding water a little at a time, if needed, to keep consistency of thick soup. Add kidney beans; heat through. Remove bay leaf. Serve in small bowls.
