Cornmeal Biscuits
Ingredients:
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
1 Tbs. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. milk
1 1/2 c. flour

Directions:
In mixing bowl stir together flour, cornmeal,baking powder,and salt. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in center of dry mixture; add milk all at once. Stir with a fork just till dough clings together (dough will be very soft).
Knead gently on well-floured surface (10-12 strokes). Roll or pat dough to 1/2: thickness. Cut with 2 1/2" biscuit cutter; dip cutter in flour between cuts. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450 till golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 10 biscuits.
