Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
8 pieces of chicken
2/3 c. buttermilk
3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. onion powder
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. veg. shortening
8 pieces of chicken
2/3 c. buttermilk

Directions:
Put chicken in bowl and pour on buttermilk. Turn to coat each piece. Marinate in refrigerator at least 1 hour. Combine dry ingredients in paper or plastic bag. Add chicken and shake until well coated. Meanwhile, melt shortening in heavy skillet on med. heat. Add chicken and cook low; cover and cook for 20 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove cover; cook over med. high 3 more minutes to allow chicken to be crisp. Drain on paper towel.
