Rolled Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and nutmeg; Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Combine eggs, sugar, milk, and vanilla; stir well, and pour into crumb mixture. Stir with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened. Shape into a ball, and chill at least 1 hour. Divide dough in half; store 1 portion in refrigerator. Roll dough to 1/8" thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a 3" cookie cutter, and place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Repeat with remaining dough. Makes 6 dozen.
