Kentucky Bourbon Balls
Ingredients:
1 Cup Margarine or Butter
1 Small can Condensed Milk
Pinch Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Salt
3 lbs. Powdered Sugar
5 TBS. Bourbon (Can use Rum or Rum flavor for Rum Balls)
8 oz. Bittersweet Chocolate
1 oz. Parafin Wax
1 Cup Margarine or Butter
1 Small can Condensed Milk
Pinch Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Salt
3 lbs. Powdered Sugar
5 TBS. Bourbon (Can use Rum or Rum flavor for Rum Balls)
8 oz. Bittersweet Chocolate
1 oz. Parafin Wax
Directions:
In bowl, allow margarine or butter(preferred)to warm to room temperature. Add condensed milk, cream of tartar, salt and 2 lbs of powdered sugar and mix well. Add bourbon, rum or rum flavor. (If you are using bourbon or rum more sugar may be required.) Mix and roll into small balls one inch in diameter. Dusting hands with powdered sugar will help keep mixture from sticking. If mixture is too sticky refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes. Arrange on wax paper. Refrigerate for half an hour or until balls are firm.
In top of a double boiler over hot but not boiling water, melt chocolate and parafin. When candies are firm use a toothpick to dip them into chocolate mixture and return to wax paper to chill.
TIPS: Chill candy very hard and let chocolate cool some before dipping.
